Before I forget, a guy who lives with us now, who we
have been taking the piss out of for the last 3 months about the fact
that his ex-girlfriend had a kid, found out yesterday that he IS the
father of said little girl. Yikes.

So the story didn’t quite end there.
My friend (who shall remain nameless although everyone knows who she
is) did catch the coach back to my place…got as far as the
station…met some Frenchies who didn’t speak English…got a lift to
my district but couldn’t find my house…called me but got cut off
before I could tell them where I lived…tried to call back and failed
before finally I left my place and walked into town to find them
huddled in a phone booth.

Surreal.

…Is good news. Well I had a bit of news today from
my parents who opened one of my mobile phone bills to see that it was
roughly £130. For a month. A month in which I would say, if quizzed by
police, that I hadn’t really used it.

Tip For Life

DON’T
CALL YOUR EX-GIRLFRIEND FOR 25 MINUTES FROM AN ENGLISH PORTABLE FROM
FRANCE WHEN SHE’S GOT A MALAYSIAN MOBILE AND SHE’S IN MALAYSIA.

In other news I saw a snowboard today that I think I might just buy.
It’s only 45 and the fixations on it are the type which I like (‘step
in’). The guy said he’d hold onto it until tomorrow so hopefully,
unless President Bush has frozen my accounts due to my
telecommunications activities, I’ll get it after translation class
tomorrow.

Tonight I watched Scary Movie
in French (not in a class, with a really sweet French girl at her
place). She’s got a great TV so it was a real pleasure…and it wasn’t
so bad even though it was dubbed. I think when I go home at Christmas
I’ll be watching a lot of movies…(‘Dude, Where’s My Car’ anyone?!?!)

Nightmare

Well I’d like to be able to tell
you guys about the nightclub, the new phone line or the two films, but
unfortunately there’s a nightmare journey of Epic proportions taking
place.

So my friend was coming to visit last Friday night from London…she
bought her ticket a couple of weeks ago and up until, well Friday,
everything was going fine. Then…the journey disaster from hell on
wheels…

Friday
- The busride which usually takes 10 mins in London takes 40
- The train is late to the airport
- The plane leaves without its full compliment of passengers

Saturday
- An attempt to get Eurostar fails on the basis that the stupid assistant has never heard of Grenoble
- No airplane tickets in the morning
- Flight arrives Lyon at 8.30pm
- Bus to Lyon arrives (ON TIME!) at 9.30pm

It seems that the problems have finished, right? WRONG!!!

Sunday
- I put her on a train to Lyon
- Train arrives 15 minutes late
- No free Ryanair buses to St Etienne airport
- No coaches to airport
- No trains to airport
- Taxi driver agrees to drive to airport for 30
-
Taxi driver promptly takes the poor girl (who speaks very little
french) somewhere TOTALLY different, takes her money and leaves her
there.
- The plane leaves without its full compliment of passengers (again)
- She goes back to Lyon airport
- And she’s now on the way back here (to my appartment in Grenoble).

Oh my god. What a nightmare.

But apart from that it was a nice weekend.
