Fudan University photos (负担大学照片)

So recently I had lunch with a very good student of mine (although there’s only so much you can teach an American before the words start bouncing back)…

最近我和我的一个三好学生共进了午餐（教育一个美国人的空间真的很大，故而称之为‘三好’学生）。

When we’d finished lunch I was feeling a little tipsy, so I decided to sneak into the grounds (translation: walk into) of Fudan University and take some photos with my new camera :D

午饭后我有丁点儿醉意，于是想溜进（注：其实是“踱进”）复旦大学校园，用我的新相机抓拍些照片。

Fudan University in Shanghai has a lot of picturesque areas, but I decided to focus on the big ass building on Handan Road, since it is one of the ‘icons’ of Fudan. I couldn’t take too many pictures because it was a baking hot day, and the beer in my belly soon made me want to go home and take a nap, but anyway…here are the photos of Fudan University buildings and grounds:

上海的复旦大学其实有很多栩栩如生的拍点，不过我还是决定先聚焦在邯郸路上那座丑陋的大建筑，该建筑居然还被号称为复旦的标志性建筑之一。由于那天热得像烘焙炉，我没能够拍太多相片，再加上我肚子里的啤酒已渐渐发酵，幻觉中我箭步如家打盹鼾声四起……以下便是复旦大学校园建筑一瞥：

Since I found out my Mum reads my blog, I feel like I need to put more photos of flowers in it. Appeal to a wider audience ‘n stuff.

我发现我妈也看我的博客，所以我得多放些花儿镜头在里面，旨在吸引和满足广大读者（众口难调啊）。

On my way to the taxi, I found this road just inside the Fudan University gate. Nice, huh?

Finally, for everyone else balllllllin’ China style (this is the basketball court where I killed both of my toenails 4 months ago by wearing running shoes to dunk. Yeah I said running shoes. Yeah I said dunk. I still got mad ups (for a white boy). Witness.

最后这张是为所有有中国特色的家伙特别奉献的。四个月前，在这个篮球场上，我穿着运动跑鞋灌篮，牺牲了四个脚趾指甲盖儿。没错儿，我指的就是跑鞋！我说的正是灌篮！作为一个白人青年，我还是有点耿耿于怀。铁证如山哪。

Ever since acting as Fred Savage’s best friend in the hit TV show ‘The Wonder Years’, I’ve always had a thing for photo shoots. On a recent trip to People’s Square (人民广场) with my crew (geddit? CREW?!) I decided to try to recreate the magic of the 80′s and relaunch my TV career by hitting up the crazy Japanese photo machine…with interesting results.

First thing to do is choose the ‘style’ you want. The choice seemed to be between garish, horribly garish, super-garish, extra-garish or spangly. We chose spangly.

Next you go into a big (could fit 5 people easily) booth and you have about 3 minutes to take as many pictures as you want, with as many different backgrounds and styles as you can fit into the time limit. All ok so far. As soon as your time is up, however, you’re given a ridiculously short time in which to choose the six that you want to keep…and then for some reason we had to cut this selection down to four….Ok I admit my Chinese is not really up to the level of a 14 year old girl yet, so I *may* have missed something obvious…

Anyway, now all the photos are done, you go to a little touch screen with two pens and then basically deface the images with all sorts of stars, animals, glitter and other stuff which a grown man should probably not be seen associating himself with in a public place. God bless you and your blind eyes Asia.

Once you’re done (you get about 3 more minutes to cover your pics in crap, which is more than enough) they print them out and voila….

Costs
A page of pictures = 40rmb
Scan and bluetooth to phone = 20rmb
Two girls pretend to be your friend = 100rmb
The results…priceless.
